New music – the first song as a sign of life
Share
We’re starting fresh without really being new.
And that’s exactly why Chris and Domi can still say with full confidence: This is Torrential Rain!
Half a new lineup, same chaos
Once Henrik and Luca officially joined, it was clear at first: okay, somehow everything is different now. Two new faces, new routines, new responsibilities. You especially notice that during rehearsals. Everyone plays differently, everyone approaches music in their own way. You have to find your groove together again. But the cool thing with these two: it happened faster than we expected.
What really surprised us was how familiar everything felt from the start. They definitely bring a lot of fresh energy, new ideas and a different perspective into the band. Whether we’re on stage or just hanging out behind the scenes, it honestly feels like they’ve been part of this for years. And that’s exactly what we mean when we say we’re starting over without really being new.

“Like A Drug” – The first sign of life
Towards the end of 2025 things got a little quiet around us, not gonna lie. But after that short “break” one thing was clear: when we come back, we’re not doing it quietly. “Like A Drug” is the perfect song for us to kick off this new chapter of the band. It’s a track that immediately pulls out all the stops, definitely sticks in your head and hits hard in every direction. (To be completely honest… it was also simply the first song that was finished 😅)
Musically we’re still staying true to our sound and the standards we’ve always set for this band, but at the same time we’re constantly pushing ourselves to improve. With the new songs, we’ve definitely managed that. Over the years we’ve developed a style that’s pretty recognizable. When you hear it, you instantly know: There’s only one band that could sound like this.

And here is something you can definitely look forward to: From now on, we’ll be releasing a new banger every single month! 🔥Some of the new songs dive even further into experimental territory. Parts of them are more complex, more technical and packed with details. Trust us, when you hear them, you’ll still immediately think: Yeah, that’s Torrential Rain… just even more intense.
As serious as we take the music itself, we still don’t take ourselves too seriously – whether it’s memes, social media or messing with each other.
If you know, you know 😏
Songwriting and the “record-button curse”
Chris: Most of our songs are written in my studio. That also means planning an entire year ahead, sticking to deadlines and being creative even on days when inspiration isn’t exactly flowing. There’s not much room for a “not feeling it today” mindset. Once the first drafts are ready, they get shared with the band and we got through them together, discussing ideas, feedback and possible changes. One new element in the process is that the drum parts now come from Luca, which brings a lot of fresh ideas into the mix.

And then there’s the classic studio phenomenon:
The moment you hit the record button, all talent instantly leaves the room. Even after 17 years as a guitarist and musician, that still somehow happens 🙃 But even though songwriting can be stressful at times, there’s honestly nothing I’d rather be doing.
This is also the first release without Hannes, Gordy and Dario, which definitely makes it feel special. We’ve had to redistribute responsibilities and take on things we’d never handled before… Of course there’s some nervous excitement involved and you hope that all the hard work will pay off. For us, success isn’t just about big numbers on social media or streaming platforms. Sure, we’re happy about streams, playlists and shares. But the real thing is having people in front of the stage singing along to lyrics that were once written alone in a studio. We love honest feedback, we love when people notice the details we’ve put so much care into. And if someone new discovers our music because of it, that’s already a win for us.
The moment that confirmed everything
Domi: Besides working on the songs, there was also one moment I’ll never forget. Pretty early on, when the four of us were rehearsing together with the new lineup, we ended up sitting outside for a long time after practicing, just talking, laughing and hanging out. I know, it might not sound like anything special at first, but within a band, and for me personally, it’s incredibly important that you get along with the people you spend so much time with and that you genuinely enjoy doing this together. And that was one of those evenings where it became completely clear to me that things work perfectly with Henrik and Luca.

One thing we can definitely promise you:
This year you’re going to see and hear a lot more from us than you have in a while.
And we’re insanely excited about it!
